How to Update PLR Planners and Calendars for 2027
Planners and calendars are some of the most popular printables, and many shoppers start looking for next year’s versions well before January. If you own PLR planner templates, now is a good time to update them for 2027. Dates are where mistakes slip in, so it’s worth a careful pass before anything goes on sale.
Get the 2027 Basics Right
- January 1, 2027 falls on a Friday, and December 31, 2027 is also a Friday.
- 2027 is not a leap year, so February has 28 days.
- Check every monthly grid, not just January. A template built for an earlier year will have every month’s starting day in the wrong place.
- Decide whether your weeks start on Sunday or Monday, and keep it consistent across monthly and weekly pages.
Double-Check Holidays
If your planner marks U.S. federal holidays, use an official list. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) publishes the schedule, and as of October 2026 it shows these 2027 dates, among others: New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1), Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday (Monday, January 18), Washington’s Birthday (Monday, February 15), Memorial Day (Monday, May 31), Labor Day (Monday, September 6), Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 25).
Three 2027 holidays fall on a weekend, so OPM lists the observed weekday instead: Juneteenth (Saturday, June 19, observed Friday, June 18), Independence Day (Sunday, July 4, observed Monday, July 5) and Christmas (Saturday, December 25, observed Friday, December 24). Decide whether your planner shows the actual date, the observed day or both, and label it clearly. If you sell to buyers outside the U.S., consider a version without holidays.
Refresh the Design and the Files
- Duplicate last year’s master file before changing anything.
- Update the year on covers, headers and file names.
- Rebuild or check every calendar grid, then proofread each month against a reliable calendar.
- Export print-ready files and test-print at least one page at home size.
- Update your mockups so listing images show 2027.
If You Sell on Etsy
As of October 2026, Etsy’s Help Center says instant download listings allow up to five digital files, with a maximum of 20MB per file. A full-year planner in several sizes can hit those limits quickly, so plan how to split files (for example, one file per size or per half-year) before you list. Etsy’s rules can change, so check the current page before you upload.
Finally, keep your PLR license in view: confirm it lets you sell printable planners in the format and on the platform you plan to use.
